I am Associate Professor of Management and Entrepreneurship in the M&O Department at the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business and the Academic Director at the Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship. I study new firms and industries, technological innovation and policy and research methods.
Data from book can be found here:
Errata: Bubbles and Crashes.
Book states that Diversa is in biofuels index. Calculations and graphs omitted Diversa.
Chapter 4: Telephone is omitted from graph. Now included.
Chapter 5: Table has error - in calculations, novices was coded as 2,3 not 1,2. So factor totals are all 1 less than published in book, and each point in graph should be shifted 1 unit on x axis. This does not affect correlations reported in the data, but discussions in the text that reference factor totals should be corrected (each factor total = factor -1). Corrected graph is here and data table is here.
